MOOYAH’s Autism Eats event will offer a tailored dining experience with reduced wait times and adjustments made for sensory sensitivities. Additionally, the organization’s founder, Lenard Zohn, and the Autism Eats team will provide optimal autism awareness training to all event staff and volunteers, allowing them to better serve the autism community.
"These events are about fostering a sense of community among individuals who share similar joys and challenges. They aim to create unique and memorable experiences for people on the autism spectrum, as well as their families and loved ones. Dining out can be particularly stressful for these individuals, which is why our focus is on making these experiences enjoyable and inclusive," said Zohn. "Working with the MOOYAH team has been incredibly rewarding. Their warmth and generosity have played a significant role in the success of these events. We deeply appreciate their ongoing commitment to Autism Eats and their efforts to create autism-friendly environments for all those impacted by autism."

Dining out with a child or adult on the autism spectrum can be challenging. Parents often feel anxious about their loved one’s behavior, and various aspects of the restaurant experience, such as other customers, wait times, and loud noises, can add to the stress. In honor of National Autism Awareness Day, MOOYAH has partnered with Autism Eats, an organization dedicated to making dining out enjoyable for children and adults with autism.
"While we have done these events with Autism Eats and the founder, Lenard Zohn in Massachusetts, we are thrilled to host the first-ever event in Connecticut,” said Kelsey Silverio, Operations Manager of MOOYAH Newington. “It is such an honor to partner with this organization. We look forward to hosting this inclusive fun night for the autistic community in a judgment-free environment.”
