Manchester Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Crash In Wethersfield: Police
The 30-year-old driver was rushed to Hartford Hospital after the late-night accident, where she later died.
WETHERSFIELD, CT — A 30-year-old Manchester woman was killed late Saturday night in a wrong-way accident that also injured two people on Route 5/15 in Wethersfield.
According to the Connecticut State Police, who released the accident report of the crash on Sunday morning, the victim has been identified as Wendy Lara, 30, of Knighton Street, Manchester.
Police said in the accident report that Lara was behind the wheel of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the state highway, smashing head-on with a vehicle with two Rocky Hill residents inside.

The fatal, head-on collision happened at about 11:56 p.m. Saturday night near Exit 85 on Route 5/15 South, police said.
According to the police accident report, a 2025 Honda Prologue Tour SUV driven by a 46-year-old Rocky Hill woman with a 48-year-old Rocky Hill male passenger was traveling south on Route 5/15, about 300 feet north of Exit 85.

Meanwhile, police said a 2017 Toyota Camry being driven by Lara was traveling the wrong way on the highway, going north in the southbound lane.
The two vehicles, police said, then collided head-on, causing disabling damage to both vehicles.
The two Rocky Hill residents in the SUV sustained "suspected minor injuries," police said, and were taken to Hartford Hospital via ambulance.

Lara initially sustained "serious, life-threatening injuries," according to the accident report, and was rushed to Hartford Hospital as well, where she was eventually pronounced dead.
The accident is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the state police at Troop H in Hartford at 860-534-1000.
