Chip's Family Restaurant Closes Wethersfield Location
The closure is effective as of today, and restaurant staff said the move is in line with the former owner's "much larger strategic vision."
WETHERSFIELD, CT — Chip's Family Restaurant has closed its location in Wethersfield, the diner's staff announced today.
Staff announced the closure of both the Wethersfield and Southington restaurants in a post on Facebook, and said they're effective as of today.
The post didn't specify a reason for the closure, but said it's in line with former owner George Chatzopoulos' vision for the breakfast chain. (Chatzopoulos died in January following a year-long battle with brain cancer).

"Closing our Southington and Wethersfield locations was a very difficult decision; however, this decision is absolutely consistent with my brother George's much larger strategic vision for the Chip's brand," said Chatzopoulos' sister, Dina Bajko.

Bajko owns the Orange and Fairfield Chip's locations, which will remain open. And she said the company is still growing.
"While we are going to miss our Southington and Wethersfield regulars, the Chip's brand is refocusing on my brother George's three founding principles: quality, service, and community," Bajko said. "We have some tremendous plans for future expansion of our restaurants and, in the meantime, hope everyone will come visit us at our Orange and Fairfield locations."
