Popular Chicken Chain Coming To Wethersfield

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A popular chicken finger chain is coming to Wethersfield to occupy a site that was once a former Denny's Restaurant.

Officials with Baton Rouge, La.,-based "Raising Cane's" confirmed Thursday morning that it will be opening a new restaurant next year in Wethersfield at 1298 Sileas Deane Highway.

The location is right next to the large, Hartford Healthcare medical office facility on that same stretch of roadway.

"We are excited to bring our 'One Love' crave-able chicken finger meals to Wethersfield," wrote a company spokesperson to Patch.

While the new chain eatery will be an addition to the Wethersfield restaurant scene, folks will have to be a bit patient.

Plans tentatively call for work to begin in the spring of 2025 and the restaurant to open in late 2025/early 2026.

The chain still must navigate its way through the town's land-use approval process, though it shouldn't be too difficult given the prior location was a chain restaurant itself.

In September 2022, the Denny's restaurant that was there shuttered, one of several in Connecticut that closed at that time.

Raising Cane's specializes in chicken finger meals with several different types of dipping sauces, a variety of sides, fries, and several desserts.

It has been making a move into Connecticut and its Enfield location is expected to open next week, the first one in Connecticut.

Other Raising Cane's restaurants are already planned for Milford and Simsbury, with more expected.
