PRESS RELEASE
KIDNAPPING SUSPECT ARREST
On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at approximately 1019 hours Wethersfield Police
Dispatch received a telephone call from a female party who indicated that
Edward Casares (DOB 10/06/1979) was in Room 131 at Motel 6 (1341 Silas
Deane Hwy. Wethersfield). Casares had an active arrest warrant from West
Harford Police Department for violation of Connecticut General Statutes §53-21
Risk of Injury to a Minor, §53a-94 Kidnapping in the Second Degree (2 Counts),
§53a-61 Assault in the Third Degree, and §53a-181 Breach of Peace in the
Second Degree.

Based on the severity of the charges and Casares criminal history, the Capitol
Region Emergency Services Team (CREST) was activated to contact Casares
and work to initiate a surrender. At approximately 1252 hours, Casares
surrendered to CREST without incident and was then turned over to West
Hartford Police Department.
