All Wilton Public Schools Closed Until Next Tuesday
Mass power outages and impassable roads delay the first day of school.

Wilton schools will be closed until Tuesday, September 6 due to the aftermath of Irene, which includes impassable roads and mass power outages.
Wilton follows in the steps of Ridgefield, whose schools will also open on September 6.
Malloy has said earlier in a press release that ‘millions and millions’ of dollars in damages have been caused by Irene.

Earlier today, Superintendent of Schools Gary Richards sent out this email concerning the delay in opening school:
"The Town of Wilton Emergency Operations Center reports that a very large percentage of Wilton residents remain without power and a significant number of roads are still impassable due to blockages and/or downed power lines. Repair and clean up will likely require several more days.

In light of the continuing state of emergency, the Wilton Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday August 31, Thursday September 1, and Friday September 2.
Schools are now scheduled to open on Tuesday, September 6."
