Body of Kayaking Accident Victim Found [Update: Confirmed]

Idaho police have found the body of Stephen Forster, who was presumed dead several weeks ago after a tragic kayaking accident.

Update, 7/19: The body has been confirmed to be that of Stephen Forster, the Wilton Villager reports.

Idaho police said they have found the body that "appears to be" that of Stephen Forster, 19, of Wilton, who went missing 

The body was recovered at 11:45 a.m. today, according to an email sent out today by Lieutenant Dan Smith of the Valley County Police Department.

Smith said another kayaker discovered the body about 7.5 miles downstream from the occurrence of the accident which happened on June 28.

Stephen Forster attended Wilton High School for two years before transferring to New River Academy in West Virginia.

New River Academy is described as a high school whose students travel internationally to train for “whitewater kayaking events” while “seeking cultural exploration” on a page that details Forster’s accomplishments. He received the New River Academy Immersion Research Academic Scholarship and was a videographer and photographer.

Update 2:42 p.m: This aritcle has been ammended to clarify that the body "appears to be" that of Forster; absolute confirmation has not yet been made.
