Documenting Family Vacations...With Cookies?

Each family has its own set of traditions that makes it unique—whether it's passing down a cherished item, gathering at a particular place for an annual reunion or cooking a special meal for the holidays.

Susan Schmitt, owner of The Painted Cookie, just happens to be an integral part of another family's unique tradition. She told Patch that she bakes a special cookie for a Wilton family that takes it with them on their trips abroad and then shoots a picture of the cookie next to the real thing.

For example, she baked a cookie representing The Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro and one shaped like a llama for the family's trip to Peru. (Both photos can be seen above.)

Schmitt described the task as "difficult," but told Patch that she gets a kick out seeing her creations pose next to their inspirations.
