WILTON, CT — An armed carjacking in Bridgeport that spilled over into Wilton was at the top of the blotter for Wilton police last week.
On Oct. 3 at around 9:30 in the morning, police stopped a 2012 Mazda 3 in the driveway of a Sturges Ridge Road residence after seeing it run a stop sign, with no front license plate. A check of the rear plate showed that it belonged to a 2006 Nissan Altima.
As the officer made contact with the driver, police say the motorist, Dominique Reid, age 26, accelerated forward, struck their cruiser twice, failed to obey their commands to stop, and speeded away.

According to their report, police later learned that both the car and the plate were stolen during an armed carjacking with a firearm earlier in the day in Bridgeport. Law enforcement agents from several surrounding agencies located, pursued, and subsequently stopped the Mazda, at which time the passenger was apprehended and taken into custody. Reid was later taken into custody by the Fairfield Police Department, and is facing multiple criminal and motor vehicle charges from other Connecticut agencies.
In Wilton, Reid is facing charges of running a stop sign, failure to display plates, misuse of plates, evading responsibility, failure to obey a police officer, and reckless driving. He was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 17.
