“This is a message from the Town of Wilton Code Red emergency notification system. All computer models forecast heavy rains associated with Hurricane Irene will begin to cause flooding in low-lying areas by Sunday morning. If you have experienced flooding in the past or are located in a flood-prone area you will almost certainly experience flooding resulting from over 10 inches of rain expected to fall from late Saturday night through Sunday.  Even areas that have never experienced flooding are at risk to do so with this storm.
Residents should begin immediately making preparations for flooding and the potential loss of electrical power for multiple days.  As the hurricane approaches, further updates will be provided to you through the media and on the Town of Wilton web site.  Any urgent messages will be sent out using this Code Red notification system. “

Residents can also track Irene on the Wilton Fire Department’s website.
