Thunderstorm Warning for Fairfield County Includes 60 MPH Winds, Hail [Updated]

The storm was last seen near Danbury and is travelling southeast at 25 mph; the warning has now been lengthened until 10 p.m.

Update 3:25 p.m: This warning has been expanded until 10 p.m. for all of Connecticut

The National Weather Service said they tracked the storm moving over Redding and Easton, and travelling southeast at 20 mph. They have lengthend the warning to last until 10 p.m. tonight for all of Connecticut.

The national weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fairfield County in Southern Connecticut, including Wilton, until 1:45 p.m.

The advisory states that this severe thunderstorm is “capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The storm was located near Danbury and moving southeast at 25 mph” about 12:52 p.m. 

“This is a dangerous storm,” reads the warning. “If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail, and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows.”
