Gimme your airbag
7/8: Police said a thief unsuccessfully attempted to steal a passenger side airbag from an unlocked Honda Odyssey which was parked in a resident’s driveway overnight on Nod Hill Road. The unidentified thief tried to remove the airbag through a vent, police said. Apparently, air bag thefts is not uncommon: according to the insurance agency State Farm, stolen airbags might be sold to unscrupulous mechanics, who then use the black-market airbags at their shop at a high markup.

7/6: Police said that complained of a person dumping trash in the company’s dumpster. Police looked through the garbage and found the offending person’s address, where they then drove to the person’s place of residence, police said. Police charged Ross Bonacci, 49, of Redding, with sixth degree larceny for theft of service; he was given a promise to appear in court, according to police reports. Police said that the business owner of Yankee Doodle has had ongoing problems with people dumping household trash in his dumpster.

7/7: Animal control received a complaint from a concerned pedestrian that a dog was overheating in a car parked in direct sunlight on Lover’s Lane, according to Animal Control Officer Bob Napoleon. Napoleon said the dog was panting heavily but that the offender, a woman playing with her children nearby, was verbally warned. “People that bring their dogs around with them in their cars aren’t people who deliberately want to treat their dogs cruelly, but people don’t realize that vehicles are steel boxes, especially in direct sunlight. Even with the windows open things can get really hot,” said Napoleon.
Scrap Stolen
7/8: lodged a complaint with Wilton police, stating that about $1,000 worth of metal casings used for drilling wells had gone missing, according to police. The company suspects an ex-employee is involved, although did not choose to press charges at this time, police said.
Untimely Death
7/7: A 29-year-old female, whose name has not been released, was found unconscious/unresponsive at early in the morning at a Wilton residence, police said. The woman was transported to Norwalk Hospital but was unable to be revived, according to police. The woman was living with her fiancé and his parents at the time; police also said that they do not suspect foul play, and that they did not know if the woman was a Wilton resident.
Suicide
7/6: A 63-year-old male of Wilton was found dead at his residence on Danbury Road, according to reports. Lieutenant Donald Wakeman said that it was “apparent that the man had committed suicide.” Police have not revealed any other details at this time. Wakeman said they do not release the names of suicide victims.
Fender bender on Route 7
7/6: An elderly woman driving her car struck another car from behind, causing minor injuries, police said. Madelon Hall, 78, of Weston, collided with a vehicle turning left onto Seely Road at 10:55 a.m., according to reports. The victim of the accident, a 48-year-old Wilton woman, complained of head pain but refused hospital transit; Hall said she her neck and back were in pain and was transported to Norwalk Hospital, according to the police report. Hall was charged with following too close and given a promise to appear in court. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, according to police.
Wallet found after Fireworks
7/4: A wallet was found at Wilton High School after the fireworks and can be claimed at the police department, according to reports.
