Village Market Manager Suggests Ready-Made Items for a Great BBQ

With temperatures expected to reach into the high 80s and low 90s Friday and Saturday and low chances of rain, you may be planning on hosting a barbecue for your friends and family.

Nancy Dolnier, general manager of Village Market, had a few easy tips for barbecue success using ready-made items.

Village Market has a variety of ready-to-go salads and dips. "Mexican taco dip is probably our most popular summertime (offering)," Dolnier said. She also suggested fruit salads and veggie platters to start off the meal.

Dolnier pointed to a selection of marinated pork, steaks and burgers for the main course. In case you're searching for something a little different, though, she suggested lobster, stuffed portebello mushrooms or large kabobs. Some of the offerings, such as certain kabobs, are vegetarian as well, giving vegetarian guests a choice of something other than a salad.

She added that most of the items she suggested will help you keep your barbecue healthy.

"Almost all of this is healthy because it's all made fresh everyday," Dolnier said. "We make it fresh here with real ingredients."

The Village Market is located at 108 Old Ridgefield Rd. Call (203) 286-5648 for more information.
