William Goetjen, 81, Former Selectman, Marine and Police Comissioner

, 81, passed away August 12, 2011 at his home.  
 
Bill was born September 14, 1929, and was the son of the late Sarah Raye Goetjen and John F. Goetjen.
 
He married Shirley Jean DeNike October 21, 1950 at Zion's Hill United Methodist Church in Cannondale.
 
Bill was a Marine from 1947 from 1950.  He returned home to take over the family moving business, , Inc.  He also followed in his fathers footsteps with his interest in politics.  He served on the Board of Selectmen and the Wilton Police Commission.  He was also a life-long member of the Wilton Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Masons and the Wilton Kiwanis.
 
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and his three children, Suzanne Kohn, Donna Goetjen and Jonathan Goetjen.  He is also survived by his son-in-laws, David A.J. Kohn, Sr. and Dan Thompson, his grandchildren, David A.J. Kohn, Jr., Jared and Raechel Thompson, Lauren Goetjen, and Alexandra and Brianna Goetjen.  He recently became the great-grandfather of Olivia Raye Buchholz.  
 
Calling hours are at Bouton Funeral Home in Georgetown, Monday, August 15, 2011, 5-8 p.m., and the funeral will be at Zion's Hill United Methodist Church, 470 Danbury Road, Wilton on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 11 a.m.
 
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to either Zion's Hill United Methodist Church or the Kiwanis Club of Wilton.
