Wilton Homeowner Defrauded out of $4,200

A Waterbury man is accused of undertaking home improvements at an Evans Lane residence without being properly licensed.

According to police, Steven Docchio, 46, was charged with larceny in the third degree, offering home improvement without a license, failure to pay a refund and not providing a notice of cancellation. Police said Docchio agreed to do work in August 2012, and the homeowner complained in September when he paid $4,200 for work that was never completed. Police served the warrant March 6 to Docchio, who is currently incarcerated on other charges.

Police said Docchio was supposed to install a salt generator on a swimming pool, tile a kitchen floor and repair a ceiling, work which was never started. He never cancelled the job and never repaid the money.

Docchio’s bond was set at $5,000.

A 17-year-old Weston female was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple trespass after police found her in a car parked in the lot of Aspetuck Land Trust land on Newtown Turnpike after sunset.

According to police, officers discovered the vehicle on March 9 at 9:50 p.m. and upon investigation, found one of the passengers in the vehicle was in possession of marijuana and a pipe. The park closes everyday at sunset, and anyone there after sunset is trespassing.

She was referred to the police department’s youth division for enforcement action.
