Wilton Man Enters Trump-Inspired Poetry Contest: Report

A 91-year-old resident submitted three poems about the president for a national poetry contest.

WILTON, CT — A local man will try his had at poetry and political commentary, as he has entered a poetry contest about President Donald Trump, reports The Hour. 91-year-old Gordon Nugent wrote three poems about the President for a New York Times contest which stopped accepting submissions on Oct. 8.

Nugent told the publication because he feels his country is in danger because of the newly-elected president. He submitted the maximum number of poems to the Times, according to the report.

He was formerly employed by the New York Times in the late 1940s, and plans on sending all three poems to different publications if his poems are not selected.
