Wilton Police Officer to Receive Award for Saving a Life Last November
Joseph Carolossi will be awarded a special award by the Dioceses of Bridgeport Blue Mass due to saving of a man's life while Carolossi was off duty.

Joseph Calorossi will be awarded the 2011 Diocese of Bridgeport Blue Mass Special Award for Police Officer for performed on a man who was dying from an asthma attack in Hartford in November 2010.
The award will be presented to Carolossi at the Blue Mass on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 10 a.m. during mass at St Augustine’s Cathedral located at 359 Washington Avenue in Bridgeport.
According to a previous article on Patch (linked to above), Carolossi was traveling as a passenger on I-91 on November 27 of last year when a vehicle from behind began "driving erratically," blasting its horn, and then pulled up to Carolossi’s car, according to the article. The driver rolled down his window and waved frantically for help; upon stopping, the man was found to have been undergoing a severe asthma attack and was in danger of dying, according to the article.

When the man lost consciousness, Carolossi and a bystander, a man who identified himself as a nurse, performed rescue breathing and saved the man’s life, according to the article.
