Wilton Ski Teams Dominate Class S Opener, Girls Secure First Place
The Wilton High School girls varsity ski team placed first overall in the Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League Class S opener.

WILTON, CT — The Wilton High School ski teams opened their 2026 Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League (CISL) Class S season with notable performances on Thursday at Mount Southington. The girls varsity squad secured a first-place finish, while the boys varsity team placed second overall.
The girls varsity team from Wilton captured first place, outperforming Greenwich Academy and New Canaan. The boys varsity team finished second, behind Weston, with Cheshire placing third. Both the boys and girls junior varsity teams also achieved first-place finishes, demonstrating the program's overall strength.
Cooper Buchichio, a senior captain, led the boys varsity team. He finished first among 124 racers with a combined two-run time of 47.76 seconds. Vincent Kelly, a freshman, placed ninth with a time of 52.97 seconds. Other top 10 finishers for Wilton included Ray Slough (11th), Theo Satrazemis (12th), Kieran Wiseman (21st), Benjamin Behar (28th), Sean Raftery (33rd), Matthew Polito (35th), Matt Morano (39th), and Leighton Graves (45th).

For the girls varsity team, sophomore Olivia Edwards led the scoring by finishing 10th overall among 138 racers with a combined time of 49.80 seconds. Lyla Theoharides, a senior captain, finished 18th with a time of 51.58 seconds. Other top 10 finishers for Wilton included Lila Richardson (19th), Siena Buchichio (20th), Charlotte DiNapoli (23rd), Parker Pettibone (25th), Magnolia Levy (28th), Charlotte Cates (44th), Georgia DiNapoli (58th), and Natalie Craig (64th).
Bill Howard, the girls head coach, commented on the team's initial performance. "After finishing second in Class S last season, our girls came into this year motivated and focused. With nine new racers joining the roster, they showed right away that Wilton remains the team to beat," Howard said. He added that the team's work on and off the snow, along with support from assistant coach Jonathan David, was evident in the results. Howard also noted that this season's league race bibs were designed by former Wilton racer Caroline Morris.

The Warriors are scheduled to return to the slopes next week as the CISL season continues with additional races against other Class S competitors.
