Class Of 2024 Named To Windsor High School Athletic Hall Of Fame

Nine great athletes, a team and a distinguished contributor will be inducted into the Windsor High School Athletic Hall of Fame this fall.

WINDSOR, CT — The Windsor High School Athletic Hall of Fame introduced the Class of 2024 during a brief ceremony on the softball field prior to a recent game. The class consists of nine individual athletes, a team and a distinguished contributor.

The induction ceremony will take place Saturday, Nov. 16 at LaNotte in East Windsor. More information is available at windsorhighschoolathletichalloffame.org.

Jason DeLawrence - Class of 1994 - football, basketball

Like many football players in Windsor, Jason started his career playing for the Windsor Giants as a running back and defensive back. Once in high school he was a 4-year starter on defense as a corner and played wide receiver on offense. In Jason’s high school career, he was All-CCC West honors for three years and All-State his senior year. After his senior year, he earned a football scholarship at the University of Rhode Island where he played wide receiver for four years. After graduation, Jason found his true passion for coaching football. He has been head coach at Tolman High School in Rhode Island for the past nine years, marking a total of 25 seasons coaching on the scholastic gridiron.

Paula Timlin - Class of 1994 - soccer, lacrosse, tennis, basketball

As a freshman in high school, Paula found herself a starting position on the varsity soccer team and was soon making significant contributions on the field. By her sophomore year, she had assisted in winning Windsor High School’s first-ever state championship in girls' soccer (1992) as well as earning her accolades. Paula’s athletic success did not stop on the soccer field. During her high school career, she was also a significant contributor to the girls' basketball and tennis teams as well as two years of lacrosse. During her career at Windsor, she earned 12 varsity letters, four CCC West honors, three All-State awards, and one state championship. After high school, Paula continued her soccer career at Saint Anselm’s College, where she became one of the college’s all-time leading scorers. Rounding out her first year, she assisted her team in winning the ECAC championship. That same year, she was named to the All-ECAC team and NE-10 freshman of the year with 23 points (10 goals and 3 assists).

Russell Scott - Class of 1995 - basketball

Upon graduation from Windsor in 1995, Russell received a scholarship to attend UMass-Lowell, where he played basketball for four years, serving as co-captain his senior season. He is the director of Excel Basketball Inc., a non-profit organization established in 2015 to provide a positive environment of organized, competitive basketball for the young female student-athletes in Alamance County and surrounding areas. They've proudly adopted the "it's not who you play...it's how you play" motto coined by Coach Ken Smith and the Warrior program. Russell currently resides in Graham, North Carolina along with his wife Keisha; they are the proud parents of Briahna (19) and Malia (14).

Chris Baker - Class of 2005 - basketball, football

Nicknamed "Swaggy," Chris is a former defensive tackle who played nine seasons in the National Football League. He was a standout football and basketball player at Windsor, anchoring a football team that was one of the best in Connecticut. He was all-conference basketball all four years and all-conference and all-state in football his junior and senior years. He took his talents to Penn State University and Hampton University before going to the NFL, playing for the Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals. Chris consistently gives back to the town of Windsor by hosting clinics, toy drives or helping coach youth.

Jordan Wilson - Class of 2010 - indoor and outdoor track

Jordan was all-conference, all-state and All-New England in the long jump, both indoors and outdoors. In addition, he won the event in 2009 and 2010. Jordan is the current Windsor High School record holder in the triple jump. He attended Delaware State University on a track and field scholarship.

Aaron Berardino - Class of 2012 - football, baseball

Aaron played wide receiver and defensive back and was a 4-year varsity starter (43 games total). He holds a Windsor record with four touchdowns and four interceptions in a game. He had 58 total touchdowns, 150-plus receptions and more than 3,000 receiving yards. He was a 3-time Windsor offensive MVP, 3-time All-Conference, 2-time All-State, first team All-Connecticut and 2-time Hartford Courant "Fab 15." Aaron was also named 2011 Hartford Courant Offensive Player of the Year and 2011 New Haven Register All-State Team. He is a Walter Camp Award winner and the 2012 Connecticut vs. Rhode Island offensive MVP.

Sydnee Over - Class of 2013 - track, cross country, basketball

Sydnee was a three-sport varsity athlete graduating in 2013. In the fall, she ran cross country and was a four-time All-Conference recipient, four-time All-CCC academic scholar, and senior year captain. In the winter, she played basketball, where she was a four-year varsity starting forward, earning All-CCC academic each year, and was also captain in her senior season. In the spring, Sydnee ran track and field, where she was a four-time All-Conference, All-State, and All-CCC academic athlete. She was a state record holder in the 400 meters, two-time Hartford Courant Track and Field Athlete of the Year, and 6-time All-American. She ran track and field on a full scholarship at Florida State University and ran professionally post-collegiately for four years.

Melissa Orzechowski - Class of 2013 - swimming

Melissa (Orzechowski) Barrieau graduated from Windsor High School in 2013, where she achieved multiple individual all-conference swimming titles and competed at the State Open her senior year, where she earned the 500-yard freestyle school record, a title that stands today. In 2013, she received the town’s Joseph McMahon Award and graduated as the CIAC Scholar-Athlete. She went on to compete at Clark University, where she set four individual school records, was a part of five relay records, and earned NEWMAC all-conference titles four times.

Robert Quinn Fleeting - Class of 2013 - football

Robert had 7,240 career passing yards, which ranks 11th all-time in Connecticut high school football record books. He had 430 career completions, good for 16th all-time, and 76 career passing touchdowns, also 16th all-time in the state. His 93 total career touchdowns are seventh all-time. After high school, he played football at Western Connecticut State University, where he received five awards for Player of the Week, Hero Sports National Player of the Week, and Offensive Player of the Year in 2017.

2014 Class L football state champions

The first state championship team in Windsor football history had a 12-0 season, and was named Connecticut Football Committee Team of the Year. The team was also the 2014 Central Connecticut Conference Champion.

Mike Spadafora - Distinguished Contributor

Mike Spadafora was co-founder of the Windsor Youth Soccer Association in 1972. His work not only brought together children, but also united parents and families for the benefit of the community. In 1995, he was honored by the Town Council for recognizing the importance of youth athletic programs as a means of teaching children the values of having perseverance and teamwork; teaching parents the importance of community involvement; and teaching the community the importance of investing time and resources in children.
