Windsor Secures State Funding to Study Senior, Disability Housing Development

The project aims to expand affordable, accessible housing for seniors and adults with disabilities.

WINDSOR, CT — State officials have approved funding through Connecticut’s Community Investment Fund to support a planning and feasibility study for a proposed affordable housing development for seniors and adults with disabilities in Windsor.

The grant will fund predevelopment work to evaluate the feasibility of constructing between 40 and 100 affordable housing units at 275 Broad Street. The proposed development is intended to expand housing options for low- and moderate-income seniors and individuals with disabilities, according to a release from legislators.

The study will assess site conditions, environmental factors, and potential design concepts. It will also examine how the development could be integrated into the surrounding area and explore alternative locations for existing ballfields currently located at the site, officials said.

Sen. John A. Kissel, R–Enfield, said the funding will help the town evaluate options to address housing needs for seniors and residents with disabilities.
