The pair of 20-year-old defendants pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the May 2020 stabbing deaths of two women in their Windsor home.
HARTFORD, CT — A pair of participants in a murder plot which resulted in the stabbing deaths of two women in their Windsor home nearly three years ago received prison sentences Tuesday in Hartford Superior Court.
Charles Dzurenka Jr., 20, of Windsor, was sentenced by Judge Kevin C. Doyle to 48 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of accessory to murder and accessory to commit first-degree assault, according to Hartford State’s Attorney Sharmese L. Walcott.
Makenzie Bezio, 20, of Torrington, was sentenced to 20 years in prison, execution suspended after 10 years served, with five years of probation after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, Walcott said.

According to court records, Dzurenka and Bezio were sentenced for their roles in the fatal stabbings of Sandra Marci, 78, and Marianne Marci Dzurenka, 55, as well as the wounding of Charles Dzurenka Sr., who survived the attack on May 11, 2020.
Police responded to the Dzurenka's Windsor home following a report of a burglary and stabbing. An investigation revealed Charles Dzurenka Jr. had requested that Brown "get rid of" his family, including his parents, Walcott said.

Upon learning of the plot, Bezio tried to talk the younger Dzurenka and a third person, Terry T. Brown Jr., out of it, but eventually went along with the plan. Dzurenka Jr. and Brown had multiple discussions about committing the crime, including when it would occur, where to enter the home, forms of payment for carrying out the crime and the murder weapon, Walcott said.
Brown, 20, was previously convicted of murder and sentenced on March 2, 2022 to 58 years in prison for his role in the crime, according to Walcott.
