McCrory, Mangini Prevail In Democratic State Senate Primary Elections
An incumbent seeking his fifth term and a longtime Enfield Town Council member were victorious in Democratic state Senate primaries Tuesday.

WINDSOR, CT — An incumbent state Senator and a longtime Enfield Town Council member emerged victorious Tuesday in Democratic primary elections in districts which include Windsor.
State Sen. Douglas McCrory, who has held the 2nd Senatorial District seat since 2017, prevailed over two challengers. The Hartford resident garnered 3,500 votes, or 58.9 percent, to earn the party's nomination, according to unofficial vote totals compiled by the Associated Press (AP).
Windsor Board of Education vice president Ayana Taylor collected 1,928 votes, or 32.4 percent, while Connecticut AFL-CIO executive vice president Shellye Davis of Windsor received 515 votes, or 8.7 percent. The AP called the race at 11:13 p.m.

The 2nd District encompasses parts of Windsor, Hartford and Bloomfield.
In the 7th Senatorial District, longtime Enfield Town Council member Cynthia Mangini is set up for a second straight run at 16-term Republican incumbent John Kissel, after handily defeating Windsor Board of Education member Nathan Wolliston in the primary.

According to AP unofficial vote totals, Mangini received 1,647 votes, or 66 percent, nearly doubling the 849 votes earned by Wolliston. The AP called the race at 10:08 p.m.
Mangini challenged Kissel in 2022, but the Republican incumbent kept his seat with 57 percent of the vote.
The expansive 7th District includes Enfield, Suffield, Windsor Locks, East Granby and Somers, as well as parts of Windsor, Granby and Ellington.
