East Windsor Man Charged After 25-Year-Old Woman Dies In New Hampshire Crash

Police say the East Windsor driver was impaired Friday when his pickup collided with another vehicle in New Hampshire.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — A Connecticut man is facing serious charges after police say his pickup truck collided with another vehicle in New Hampshire on Friday afternoon, causing a crash that killed a woman.

Emergency crews from Newport, N.H., responded around 3:42 p.m. on Dec. 5 and found two vehicles involved. The driver of one of them was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say a Chevrolet Silverado traveling east on Maple Street in Newport crossed into the opposite lane and struck a westbound Jeep Wrangler head-on. The Jeep rolled over after the impact, causing fatal injuries to its driver.

Police say they have identified the victim as Ashley Wendt, 25, of Washington, New Hampshire.

The driver of the Silverado, Dylan Galland, 49, of East Windsor, Connecticut, was determined to be impaired and was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated. He was taken to Valley Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later charged with negligent homicide, police say.

Galland was arraigned on December 8th and is now being held without bail under preventive detention. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16 at 1:30 p.m. in the Newport District Court, authorities say.

Officials say that numerous law enforcement agencies continue to investigate.
