WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A Granby resident turned herself in at Windsor Locks police headquarters Monday after learning of a warrant for her arrest, in connection with a case in which an elderly woman was bilked of more than $9,000.

Michelle Labowski, 45, was charged with first-degree identity theft, and was released after posting a court-set $25,000 cash/surety bond. She is slated to appear Nov. 20 in Hartford Superior Court.

The arrest culminated a months-long investigation by Windsor Locks detectives, who received a complaint April 5 concerning identity theft of a 94-year-old woman. The investigation revealed Labowski, the woman's in-home caregiver, had obtained her personal identifying information and opened a Chase Amazon Prime Visa credit card, police said.
