Officers subsequently saw a suspicious male who fit the description of the assailant. Police said the man was detained, but “immediately became hostile and combative.”

The suspect did not respond when a “conducted energy device,” or taser, was used on him, according to police.

Officers were finally able to handcuff the man, and he was transported to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Police said no officers were injured, and the suspect was unharmed during the arrest.

Criminal charges will be lodged after the mental health evaluation is complete. Police said the suspect was involved in a similar incident recently in a different jurisdiction, and in that case “a gun was involved.”
