The Windsor Locks Greater Together Community Fund at the Hartford Foundation of Public Giving needs volunteers who are passionate about our community to serve on the Windsor Locks Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Committee.
In 2019, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving established $100,000 in community funds for each of the 29 towns in the Foundation’s region, which includes the town of Windsor Locks. In January 2022, the Hartford Foundation gave an additional $50,000 to the Fund with half of the funding being maintained in the Fund’s endowment and the remaining half to support current grantmaking efforts.

The purpose of the community funds is to support residents in taking ownership around the needs in their towns, encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement and anchor the Hartford Foundation in each town.
The initial Windsor Locks Advisory Committee was formed in 2021. During our first year, the Windsor Locks Greater Together Community Advisory Committee fully funded five grants totaling over $15,000 that will improve the lives of our residents. We have funded a diverse array of grants, including the Windsor Locks Public Library, Lions Club, Special Olympics, UR Community Cares, and Operation Fuel. Each one of the grants will have a positive impact on our community.

Before beginning the next grant cycle, the Windsor Locks Advisory Committee is seeking new members. These new members will join the current committee in steering the second grant cycle. Windsor Locks residents who wish to play a leading role in deciding how their community funds will be used are welcome to apply. The Advisory Committee is dedicated to creating a group that is inclusive, and representative and reflective of all the residents of the community.
Members of the Advisory Committee must be over 14 years of age, not an elected official, and residents of Windsor Locks. Members are expected to attend one Zoom meeting per month and should be willing to work on committee projects between meetings.
