#ChristinaCelebrates: Parent Involvement Day / Family Engagement Month

November is Family Engagement Month at Christina School District—a special time to remind ourselves and our families just how important family involvement is to a child's academic success. As part of this celebration, on November 20, we recognize and honor National Parent Involvement Day—a day dedicated to celebrating the powerful impact that engaged families have on student achievement.

Across the country, schools continue to face real and evolving challenges — from student learning recovery to community divisions to chronic teacher burnout. Yet one truth has never changed: when parents are engaged, students thrive.

So, throughout November, our schools plan various activities and resources to help families get involved, including informative workshops and flexible parent conference options, as well as fun family events.

Engage and Celebrate with Us!

• Involve yourself in your child’s education by communicating regularly with your child’s teacher(s), making sure their homework is complete, and recognizing your child’s academic achievements.
• Provide a home educational environment and space with appropriate educational supplies that is quiet, safe, and uninterrupted to maximize learning potential.
• Support your child’s school by volunteering and involving yourself in the educational decision-making process at the school and district level to strengthen the connection between families and schools.
• Commit to carrying out, to the best of your abilities, the responsibilities outlined in your child’s school/parent compact.

So families, if you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to engage and celebrate with us - not just this month, but all year long!
