Honoring Achievement: Secretary Marten Presents Marshall Elementary the Sapphire Award

Delaware Secretary Cindy Marten presented Counselors with the Sapphire Award for building academic academic resilience.

Delaware Secretary of Education Cindy Marten visited Marshall Elementary School to present the Sapphire Award for Excellence in School Counseling to counselors Martina Fontana-Daguerre and Jessica DiRienzo, who have been making a remarkable impact through their innovative “Fixed Freddie” and “Growth Gretchen” lessons, designed to teach students about adopting growth mindsets.

The results speak for themselves: after participating in these lessons, an impressive 96% of students expressed confidence in their ability to improve in areas they once found challenging. This milestone marks a crucial step in fostering academic resilience and empowering students to embrace learning with confidence and determination.

Congratulations to Martina, Jessica and the entire Marshall Elementary School community!
