Under the thoughtful guidance of Connections Manager Kim Wilhelm, young visitors brought fresh energy and joy to the community. Residents and children bonded over creative art projects and engaging story times, creating meaningful moments that bridged generations and warmed hearts.

To finish the month off strong, the community celebrated with “Savor & Sound: A Soulful Soup and Music Experience”, where four talented culinary students from Paul M. Hodgson Vocational Technical High School showcased their creativity. The event highlighted these aspiring chefs’ distinctive recipes – a cream of crab soup, shrimp bisque, lasagna soup, and potato bacon – while live music by Ralph James filled the air. This collaboration celebrated young talent while reinforcing Juniper’s commitment to building meaningful connections with the broader Newark community.

Distinguished judges from Owl Be There, AccentCare Hospice, and the Newark Police Community Engagement Department evaluated each creation as residents and local community members sampled the soups. The event provided a unique learning opportunity for students, who gained valuable industry insights from executive chef Aking DeLeon while sharing their culinary passion with an appreciative audience.
