Shortly after 2:15 a.m. on Jan. 3, 2020, Gulick drove to the Planned Parenthood facility in Newark, according to statements made in open court. Video surveillance captured Gulick standing on the building's front porch and spray-painting the phrase "Deus Vult" — Latin for "God Wills" — in red letters, officials said.
Gulick then stepped off the front porch, lit a Molotov cocktail, and threw it at the building before running away, according to the release. The fire burned for about one minute before self-extinguishing.
