Harry "Captain" Halvorsen

Harry is the fourth gentleman in our group. He is not actually a Veteran. However, he is a proud University of Delaware alum from the engineering program and was truly honored to be back on campus. He was happy to honor his friends and the other Veterans in the community during the parade.

These veterans marched not only for remembrance, but for the spirit of service that continues to define their lives. As they walked the streets, heads held high and hearts full of pride, parade-goers applauded their presence and service. To introduce and honor our veterans, the announcer shared with the crowd:

“The Vero at Newark, A Juniper Community, is a vibrant senior living community committed to celebrating independence, dignity, and purpose at every stage of life. Today, they march with pride alongside their honored residents – veterans who bravely served our country. Representing every branch of the armed forces, these heroes are the heart of The Vero, and their stories of courage and sacrifice inspire all who know them.”

For the veterans, it was more than a parade, but it was a moment of reflection, camaraderie, and pride. For onlookers, it was a powerful reminder that courage endures, and that those who once served still lead with grace and strength. A meaningful experience for all involved.

At Juniper Village at Newark, every chapter of life holds purpose. On this day, that purpose was clear: to remember, to honor, and to stand tall in gratitude.
