$1M Mega Millions Ticket Sold In FL Amid $800M Jackpot

The Mega Millions jackpot has shrank after a TX player scored the $800 million prize, but a FL player also won big in the lottery game.

FLORIDA— A single Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million was recently sold at a Defuniak Springs store, WFLA reported.

Meanwhile, the massive $800 million jackpot was won in Sugar Land, Texas, according to Mega Millions officials. Texas lottery officials said the accepted cash option was $404.2 million prior to taxes.

The jackpot is the seventh-largest prize won in Mega Millions history, and the winning ticket matched all six numbers, game officials said. The prize had not been claimed as of Wednesday.

The winning numbers drawn Tuesday night were white balls 1, 2, 16, 24 and 66. The gold ball was 6, and the Megaplier was 4x. The jackpot now sits at $20 million.

The million-dollar ticket in Florida was sold at Big Boss Stores at 1739 US Hwy. 331 South, WFLA reported.

Aside from Florida, three other $1 million winning tickets were sold in California, New York and Washington, according to the Mega Millions lottery results.

Ticket purchasers should sign their tickets as soon as they buy them, per lottery officials.

In Florida, the state lottery must withhold 24 percent federal taxes on prizes more than $5,000 for U.S. citizens with a social security number.

For U.S. citizens without a social security number, the state lottery must withhold 30 percent for taxes on prizes more than $600.
