"Owning a log cabin has year-round appeal. In summer, they’re a base for fishing, hunting, or swimming in nearby lakes. In winter, they turn into cozy hideaways, perfect for fireside evenings. In spring, the surrounding landscape bursts into bloom," Texas Real Estate Source wrote. "But it’s fall when cabins truly shine, with vivid reds, oranges and golds creating picture-postcard views right outside the window."

In Florida, the Ocala National Forest in Marion County came in at No. 12 on the list. With Marion County home values in the mid-$250,000 range, it’s an attainable option for a woodland getaway.

"In central Florida, Ocala’s hardwood hammocks and pine forests offer subtle autumn changes, with cypress trees turning amber in October. Cabins are scattered around its many springs and lakes, popular as fishing bases and weekend retreats," the survey authors wrote.

Also included in the ranking was the Lake City and Suwannee River Region in Columbia County, which came in at No. 82. Countywide median home values are in the mid-$200,000 range, so it’s a budget-friendly market for buyers seeking a quieter retreat.

"Northern Florida’s river valleys show muted but noticeable seasonal shifts, with cypress and oak adding warm tones in fall. Cabins and cottages dot the Suwannee River and nearby lakes, many doubling as fishing camps," the survey authors wrote.
