Best Beach In FL Offers Sunbathing, Sloping Sand Hills: New Ranking

FLORIDA — It is no secret that Florida's beaches regularly draws tourists to the Sunshine State, but the question is, which ones are deemed top notch?

Of the 825 miles of beaches in Florida, USAToday recently ranked the top 10 in its 10Best Readers' Choice 2024 Awards; and as one probably could have guessed, a metro Miami beach reined supreme.

The ongoing online contests allow readers to choose the top 10 winners from a list of 20 nominees in several nationwide categories, including food, lodging and destinations. USA Today said an expert panel makes the nominations before voting occurs.

As for best Florida beaches, Delray Beach claimed the No. 1 spot. Located near the edge of Palm Beach County, USAToday said Delray offers visitors an opportunity to sunbathe while the sloping sand hills of the beach's Atlantic Dunes Park complements natural beauty.

“Our award-winning beach attracts so many visitors, protects us from hurricanes and tropical storms, and is home to an abundance of native plants and animals,” City Manager Terrence Moore said in a news release. “We are privileged to have such a beautiful beach and it is an honor to be voted the #1 Best Beach in Florida, in the USA TODAY 10Best 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards.”

City officials said Delray annually welcomes around 3.2 million visitors. In early May, Delray added to its trophy wall with the Blue Flag Award, an accolade secured for the second consecutive year.
