FL Best Buy Stores Issue Safety Recall For 1M Pressure Cookers
Nearly a million pressure cookers have been recalled by Best Buy after 31 people were injured, some with severe burns, officials said.

FLORIDA — Best Buy locations across Florida and nationwide have issued a safety recall for nearly a million pressure cookers, which they say could cause harm to consumers.
The recall applies to 930,000 Insignia Multi-Function Pressure Cookers that were sold from Oct. 2017 to June 2023, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada announced.
Specifically, the inner pots that come with the pressure cookers — or sold separately — have incorrect volume markings. "This can cause consumers to overfill the pot and hot food and liquids to be ejected when the pressure cooker is vented using the quick release method or opened while its contents are pressurized, posing a burn hazard to consumers," officials said.

To date, Best Buy has received 31 reports of injuries related to the issue. Federal officials said contents were expelled under pressure and caused second-degree and severe burns in 17 of the cases.
Consumers who have the pots should immediately stop using them and contact Best Buy for a free replacement of both the pot, and the floating locking valve which signals pressure. Consumers can register their faulty product with Best Buy online here.

This recall involves Insignia Multi-Function Pressure Cookers with model numbers NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9, or NS-MC80SS9, and inner cooker pots with model numbers NS-MCRP6NS9 and NS-MCRP6SS9, sold separately as replacements.
The electric pressure cookers and inner cooker pots are six- and eight-quart capacity. The brand name INSIGNIA appears on the front of each unit and on its permanent on-product label.
