HCC Inducts Students into Collegiate 100

Hillsborough Community College welcomed its first students into Collegiate 100 organization at an induction ceremony Jan. 25 at the HCC Brandon Campus.

The Collegiate 100—an auxiliary organization of the 100 Black Men of America Inc.—is open to all male and female HCC students who are in academic good standing and who have a passion for mentoring and serving their communities.

Collegiate 100 members have opportunities to work closely with campus advisers and members of the 100 Black Men of Tampa Bay Inc.

Campus advisers and members of the 100 Black Men of Tampa Bay mentor Collegiate 100 students, who in turn mentor students in local elementary schools.

Collegiate 100 students grow and develop interpersonal and networking skills by actively participating in activities and events throughout the program year.

Collegiate 100 students engage in community service projects and events focused on topics such as financial aid, transferring to a four-year college or university, money management, politics, drug and substance abuse prevention, presentation skills, goal-setting and leadership development.

Hillsborough Community College serves more than 48,000 students annually on five campuses and three centers throughout Hillsborough County. HCC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
