While the fire was brought under control within minutes, authorities say one of the home’s occupants was found outside. The person, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, a Friday email from the fire department said. Other residents, including children, were not home at the time the fire broke out, the agency noted.

The fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal Office and city officials. The Red Cross was also called in to provide assistance.
