1 Northbound Skyway Bridge Lane Open After Crash

The Florida Highway Patrol has opened one northbound lane of traffic on Interstate 275 following a Monday crash on the Skyway.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL -- Motorists with plans to take Interstate 275 north across the Skyway Bridge Monday afternoon may want to rethink their routes. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, only one lane in the northbound direction was open as of 3:38 p.m. Monday.

The closing was prompted by a crash that occurred just before 3 p.m. April 10. Troopers say the multi-vehicle wreck occurred along the northbound side of the bridge near mile marker 8.

“A passenger vehicle had collided with an SUV and overturned,” Sgt. Steve Gaskins wrote in an email to media. “The SUV collided with the inside barrier wall, was re-directed and collided with two other vehicles.”

The crash closed all northbound lanes for about 30 minutes.

Minor injuries were sustained by those involved in the crash, but no one required hospitalization, Gaskins said.
