2 Killed In Manatee County Crash: FL Highway Patrol

A Saturday night crash on State Road 70 in Manatee County left two people dead and one seriously injured, Florida Highway Patrol said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Two people were killed in a Saturday night crash on State Road 70 in Manatee County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

An SUV heading west on S.R. 70 near Betts Road tried to pass other westbound traffic around 8 p.m.

The SUV, driven by a 31-year-old Bradenton man, a pick-up truck heading east on S.R. head-on, FHP said.

The truck’s driver, a 47-year-old Arcadia man, and one of the SUV’s passengers, a 56-year-old Bradenton man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV driver was seriously injured in the crash and brought to an area hospital.

His other passenger, a 57-year-old Bradenton woman, suffered minor injuries, FHP said.
