2 People Seriously Injured In Bradenton Crash

Two people were seriously injured in a Tuesday morning crash on Ninth Street East.

BRADENTON, FL — A 38-year-old Bradenton woman was cited by the Florida Highway Patrol following a Tuesday morning crash that left her and a 4-year-old girl seriously injured.

According to the agency, Tameka Williams was driving south on Ninth Street East, approaching 301 Boulevard East, around 7:35 a.m. May 2. As Williams’ Mercury neared the signal, troopers say it cycled yellow. Williams, a highway patrol report said, accelerated to clear the light, but found a vehicle occupying the lane she was traveling in.

Williams, the report said, changed lanes, but she lost control of her vehicle. The Mercury hit a curb and a fire hydrant before rolling over an estimated five times. The Mercury ended up on its roof in the driveway of the Circle K at 836 301 Boulevard East, the patrol said.

Williams suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The 4-year-old was in a car seat, but was not fastened, the patrol’s report said. The child also suffered serious injuries.

Troopers cited Williams with careless driving and failure to follow child restraint requirements, the report said.
