2 People Seriously Injured In Manatee Crash Involving Bicycle

BRADENTON, FL --Two people were seriously injured but a bicyclist suffered only minor injuries Saturday morning when the bicyclist was struck by a car at 30 Street East and 47th Avenue E in Manatee County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said that the incident happened around 10:55 a.m. as 47-year-old Randy L. Philbrick of Bradenton was riding his bicycle south on 30th St. East along the edge of the road.

A 2010 Hyundai Sonata was traveling in the same direction behind the bicycle when the driver of a 2006 Murano lost control and crossed into the path of the Sonata from the opposite direction.

The collision caused the Sonata to spin around and strike the bicycle, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The drive of the Sonata and his passenger both suffered serious injuries. David Devane, 61, of Bradenton and 58-year-old Lee Ann Neubert, his passenge, were both taken to Blake Medical Center.

The driver of the Murano, 35-year-old Erin C. Teague of Bradenton, suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.
