26-Year-Old Man Accused In Manatee County Shooting Death

PALMETTO, FL — A 26-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with a Monday afternoon slaying in Manatee County.

Deranty Taylor was charged with second-degree murder, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A spokesperson for the agency said the slaying occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 900 Block 25th St. E.

"They discovered the victim who had been shot lying in the street," the agency spokesperson said of sheriff's deputies on the scene. "Probable cause was established to arrest Deranty Taylor for second-degree murder."

The sheriff's office said the victim's name is being withheld under Marsy’s Law.
