5 Things You Need To Know This Weekend: September 10-12
Chamber event designed to bring jeans to the homeless, Friday night football scores and Get Down Dowtown resumes this week.

1. The Manatee Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly Business After Hours on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Community Coalition on Homelessness, 701 17th Ave. W. Everyone is encouraged to bring a new or clean gently used pair of blue jeans which are in great demand. Members and prospective members are invited to enjoy complimentary appetizers and the very best in quality networking. There is no charge to attend. 2. Manatee High School routed Riverview 48-6 Friday night, while Southeast defeated Lakewood Racnh 33-13. Braden River fell to North Port 7-6 and Bayshore held Port Charlotte scoreless beating them 34-0.
3. Manatee’s third annual Wellness Expo is set for 6 p.m to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at Woodland—The Community Church, 9607 State Road 70 East. Health and wellness vendors and Manatee County healthcare providers will offer health screenings and tips at more than 100 informational booths. There will be wellness-based activities and demonstrations, including complimentary exercise classes and special demonstrations for kids, teens, adults and seniors. Admission is just $5 and free to school district and county employees with a valid ID.

4. The 5th Annual Manatee County 9/11 Remembrance Ride will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The ride, sponsored by the Manatee COounty Sheriff's Office, is open to the public. Gather at the parking lot, 600 301 Blvd. St. W. The fully-escorted ride leaves from the parking lot and will travel to Coquina Beach for a short memorial ceremony. Members of the public are encouraged to sit along the route and cheer the bikers on. All motorcyclists are welcome to participate.
5. Get Down Downtown returns for the season on Thursday. Enjoy libations, food, and friends with live music on Old Main Street from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Downtown Bradenton. Coordinated by the Old Main Street Merchants, this event benefits a different non-profit organization each month. For information call 941-744-2589.
