5 Things You Need To Know This Weekend: September 3-5
The holiday weekend is not the end to Florida's beach season, the Hurricanes lost their season opener to Good Council of Olney, Md. and ArtCenter Manatee kicks off its 2011-2012 exhibition season.

1. It's a holiday weekend! Forget about work and school and enjoy living in Florida. Everyone else is mourning the end of summer and we know that we still have plenty of left this year.

4. The Bradenton Marauders won both games of a doubleheader Friday, 5-4 and 7-6 over the Charlotte Stone Crabs, putting the Marauders in first place in the Florida State League. The Marauders and Stone Crabs finish the season with two more games at Charlotte Sports Park starting Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
5. kicks off its 2011-2012 exhibition season with the Florida Watercolor Society's 40th Annual Exhibition on September 6. The exhibit, which will continue through Oct. 29, will feature 100 paintings juried by internationally known artist John Salminen. It showcases work by artists from all over Florida including ArtCenter members and instructors.
