5 Things You Need To Know Today: December 27
Don't forget to register to vote, local show store and running club named best in southeast and don't forget your umbrella today.

1. This is the last week to register to vote in January's Republican Presidential Preference Primary, known as the Republican caucus in other states. The Supervisor of Elections office is open Tuesday through Friday. The office will be closed on Jan. 2 for the New Year holiday. The deadline to register is Jan. 3.
2. Competitor magazine’s readers have named the “Best of” Running Stores in the Southeast. Suncoast Striders Walking & Running Club was named the “Best of” Running Club in the Southeast. The results of the annual reader survey — votes are tabulated on the magazine’s website — will be published in the January 2012 issue of Competitor. More than 5,000 readers voted to choose their favorites of 2011. The categories of the Best of Awards include recognition of events, sporting goods stores, clubs, charity training programs, gyms and products that prove to be favorites of Competitor’s readership. 3. Don't forget your umbrealla this morning. There is a 50 percent chance of rain this afternoon. The front that comes through this afternoon is also expected to bring cooler weather for the rest of the week. Maybe it's not too late to pull out those Christmas Sweaters.

4. There will be an outside lane closure on S.R. 70 and 51st Street East Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A contractor for Florida Power and Light will be replacing damaged overhead cable. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution while in the area and expect possible delays.
5. Now that all of the toys have been unwrapped, take a trip to the to see the differences in aesthetics, form, function and qualities of Twentieth Century toys from around the globe compared to modern factory-made toys. The exhibit is included with general admission and will be presented in the Rincon Gallery.
