5 Things You Need To Know Today: January 20
The Manatee County Fair is a bargain today, Beertopia is set for Saturday and you can celebrate the circus.

1. It's a good day to go to the Manatee County Fair if you have a student identification. Children and students with the school I.D. get into the fair free from noon to 3 p.m. The fair is also offering a special on Midway rides. Midway Armbands are available for $20. The special offers unlimited rides from noon to midnight.
2. The Junior League of Manatee County is putting the final touches on its Beertopia benefit. The event takes place in Lakewood Ranch Saturday. Tickets for the beer and food tasting festival are $50 in advance, $60 at the door and $75 VIP ticket includes admission to the Polo Grill after-party event, transportation to and from the after party, a private seating area within Beertopia and a VIP gift bag. Beertopia takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, 7051 Wireless Court, just south of Lakewood Ranch.
3. 's annual Celebrate Circus is Saturday, and kids and teens 17 years old and younger can get in for free with a paid adult admission. Folks of all ages can experience a slice of circus life and see all the circus-themed art at the museum. Radio Disney will also broadcast from the event.

4. and Gulf Coast Sanctuary's annual Animal Extravaganza fundraiser starts this Saturday. Petting zoos, camel, pony and elephant rides in addition to exotic cats will be just a few things at the animal sanctuary, 7101 Palmer Blvd, Sarasota. The habitat is trying to , construct a sterile clinic for veterinary treatments and a nursery for young animals, and provide for daily operating expenses. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $7 for children.
5. National Visit a Public Charter School Day will kick-off at Just for Girls Academy on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Parents, educators, public officials, and community members are invited to preview this addition to public school choice in Manatee County.
