5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 29
The Manatee County Commissioners to set the proposed millage today, all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast offering and opening night for the Broadway Bootcamp are just a few of the things you should know today.

1. will meet at 9 a.m. today to review the proposed county budget. Commissioners will discuss the sheriff's budget and county budget items they flagged earlier in the year. The commissioners will adopt a proposed millage rate and schedule two public hearings in September.
2. It is opening night for participants. The summer camp offers intensive training in acting, technical theatre and performance preparation. It culminates in a stage production of Once on This Island, the Caribbean adaptation of ‘The Little Mermaid’ by the creators of RAGTIME. The musical fable tells the story of forbidden love between people from two different worlds. Presented as a 'play within a play', a cast of village storytellers, attempting to calm a frightened young child, tell the romantic tale of a peasant girl who saves a rich city boy from death. The opening is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight. Other performances are scheduled for July 30th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and July 31st at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $11 for ages 12 and under. 3. Former Wide Receiver Joe Hills signed a free agent deal with the Tennessee Titans. Hills, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound wide receiver, began his college career at South Carolina before transferring to Tennessee State.

4. Manatee County deputies have arrested a suspect in a home invasion robbery in . Deputies have charged George Hand, 26, with armed home invasion, two counts of false imprisonment and two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. Hand was arrested after deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at his residence. The charges stem from a home invasion, in which two people were held at gunpoint, on Misty Morning Court around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Hand is also a suspect in a July 17 home on Waters Edge Way, also in Edgewater Village, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report. Charges are pending in that case.
