5 Things You Need To Know Today: November 15

High profile careers featured at Braden River High, Manatee County gets a new library and the last of this season's Courthouse Square concert series takes place Wednesday.

1. The Board of County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. today in a work session. Added to the agenda is a Community Coalition presentation on homelessness in the county.

2. An Athletic Trainer for the Tampa Bay Rays, a Forensics Department Head from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and an Environmental Scientist from the Southwest Florida Water Management District are scheduled to speak at "Career Day" for School’s Science and Health Academy on Wednesday from 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The goal of “Career Day” is to provide students with the opportunity to explore various occupations within science and health related fields.

3. Manatee County is about to get it's newest library today as the county cuts the ribbon on the new Rocky Bluff library at 2 p.m. Afterwards, residents can tour the library now housed in the former Roaring 20s restaurant building in Ellenton.

4.The R.J. Howson Band will play the blues for the final for the fall. The concert will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. Renaissance on 9th will have box lunches for sale. Organizers ask that concert-goers bring a canned good for their food drive.

5. It seems the warmer weather is here to stay for a while. Look for a possibility of some showers on Thursday, but don't expect the rain to bring cooler temperatures.
