5 Things You Need To Know Today: November 21

The County Commission meets today, weekend DUI patrol leads to arrests and the School Board meets Tuesday.

1. It's Thanksgiving week and that means you're likely to see more traffic around Manatee County as students return home from college, snowbirds return and families get together. Drive safely!

2. County Commissioners meet at 9 a.m. today to discuss commission redistricting, non profit agency funding and a tourist development plan.

3. Thirteen people were arrested over the weekend during a conducted by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the Bradenton Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol. Of those arrested, three people were charged with DUI, nine with other misdemeanors and one with a felony, according to a report from the sheriff's office. In addition 53 citations were written for speeding, seatbelt violations, red light violations and more than two dozen other violations. Each year more than 17,000 people are killed by impaired drivers and another 305,000 are injured.
