5 Things You Need to Know Today: September 9
Bradenton Marauders end their season in St. Lucie, the school board passes the education budget 3-2 and the United Way kicks off its campaign Tuesday.

1. The County kicks-off its 2011-2012 annual fundraising campaign Tuesday at noon at the in Bradenton. The theme this year is Stronger Together. For information call Angela Moore at 941-567-4085 or email to amoore@uwmc.net. Tuesday's event is sponsored by Publix Supermarkets.
2. The Bradenton Marauders ended their season in Port St. Lucie Thursday after falling 4-3 n 10 innings in the finale of the Florida State League South Division Series. Bradenton finished the second half with a first place 44-23 record.
3. The Manatee County School board voted 3-2 to approve the 2011-2012 education budget Thursday night. The calls for an increase in the millage rate.

4. will host a 9/11 memorial service at 12:15 p.m. at the out-door stage behind the student union on the Manatee capmus. The ceremony will begin with the Chamber Choir singing the national anthem. That will be followed by a welcome and Words of Remembrance. The poem "One" will be read aloud. Other musical selections include "Do Not Stand at My Grave" "America, The Beautiful" and "May the Road Rise to Meet You." The ceremony will conclude at 12:40 with the playing of "Taps" and a moment of silence.
5. Are you ready for some (high school) football?! Tonight there are several local football games. will take on and the Mustangs will have the home field advantge. After travelling out of state for its last game will take on the Riverview Rams at home.
